Dear Parents

With only a few weeks of the year left, we are sad that so many things are coming to an end but so excited to welcome our new Grade N boys as part of the Bishops family. This week we introduced 60 new little faces to our wonderful school and are enthusiastic about the journey we are about to embark on with them.

Thank you so much to all the parents who have so generously given towards our cash collection (Civvies day) as well as our non-perishable goodies.  We are delighted at the response and are looking forward to being able to present beautiful packages to our hard working recipients.  I will send further updates closer to the time.

You may have noticed a beautiful vase full of poppies in our foyer.   Please feel free to send a donation to the office, and collect a red poppy to show support of this worthwhile cause.  The money collected goes to the SA Legion which is a charity which looks after Military Veterans and their spouses who are in need – mainly the elderly and those who carry life-long injuries as a result of being wounded in battle. Last year we raised more than any other institution in the Western Cape. Let us be generous again.

Yesterday our boys swam in the final gala of the 2017 season.  We are always so proud of the way in which our boys partiipate at these events, and congratulate each and every one on their achievements.  The squid gala that is on the schedule for next Friday has been cancelled by the organisers so will sadly no longer be taking place.

The grade 2 boys enjoyed a morning of strawberry picking in Stellenbosch on Tuesday, returning with armfuls of delicious organic strawberries.  Hopefully these were thoroughly enjoyed at home by the families.

I appeal to parents who pass the security at the gates, possibly meet assistants who help pedestrians across the road, or encounter any other persons who are asked to guide people safely/or to park in a particular place - to please remain respectful and mindful of the manner in which they are addressed.  These people are often subjected to rude comments, foul language and just blatantly rude behaviour, which is not acceptable.  Sadly this is often also in the presence of their sons.  We ask that you take time to reflect on the manner in which these people are addressed and refrain from any such interactions.

There is quite a lot of lost property in the hall.  Please take a look if you have any lost items.
