Dear  Parents

It has been a busy week for the boys, teachers and parents this week.  Thank you to all of you who made time to come to the parent information evenings and to those new parents who attended the cocktail party last night.  It was lovely to get to meet you all again and even more exciting to hear how your boys are settling into their new environment.

Grade 1 and 2 boys have had a chance to visit the chapel and Fr Bob Cummings has intrigued them with his lovely presentations.

Thank you to all who have agreed to be class reps.  I will chat to you more at the breakfast (see diary dates).

We appeal to you all to collect empty boxes of different sizes (cereal, toothpaste, medicine, biscuit), ice cream containers and lids, large yoghurt containers with lids and other useful recycled items for our preschool.  If there are any parents with contacts for offcuts of wood and paper which we could recycle, please contact Mrs Stuart in Grade N or pop in to the office and let us know.  We would be so grateful.

We trust that all boys have settled in their sport choices for the summer terms.  Hopefully this coming week, the groups would have been accurately established and the boys enjoying their chosen activities.

We apologise for any glitches in signing up for our new Young Engineers Programme which we have introduced.   We have been swamped by applications to attend which we never anticipated and have had to made adaptations as far as possible.  We do hope that these have been ironed out and a solution found.  We ask that you be understanding in our efforts to please everyone and remind parents to address issues in a respectful manner, should they arise.

We ask all parents to diarise 28 March for our fun Pre-Prep sports day.  Get your exercise shoes on and start training for the parents races!

Thursday, 1 Feb Class Reps Meeting in the Rossall Pavilion, Prep School.  Arrival 07:15 and Meeting begins @ 07:45

If we have any parents who are willing to provide a lovely plant/bunch of flowers for the foyer on a Monday, please contact Mrs Vimbayi Mafunda on email:  to put your name on the roster.  We so appreciate you helping to keep our school beautiful.

We are also appealing to parents who would be available to drop our collection of sandwiches off on a Tuesday morning, to contact Mrs Nisreen Abrahams on email: to offer your help or to find out more about what this would entail.

Please drop off anything which needs to be delivered to your sons, with Nicky in the office.  We respectfully request that you do not deliver anything personally to your sons during the school day.

A friendly reminder - we ask parents to please not park in front of the exit gates to the complex which borders the Sandown Road parking area (outside the hall).  The residents are struggling to exit in the mornings if cars are parked in front of the electric gate.  Please can you be aware of the space they would need to exit this area.

Aftercare hours are from after school until 17:00 Monday to Thursday and until 16:00 on a Friday.  Please contact Mrs Catherine Rheeder on for further enquiries.

As January draws to a close and New year’s Resolutions begin to fall by the wayside, we bring you the solution!

Dr Michael Mol is coming to Bishops and he will share expert tips and advice on how to be a better, healthier you in 2018.  Please support this event as ALL proceeds will be donated to the Hamilton Mvelase Bursary Fund .  A healthy breakfast is included in the price (R250).  Tickets are available here.  For further details please contact Nikki Matthews at the Bishops Trust Office.

Wishing Mrs Meredith a Happy Birthday today and our lovely cleaning lady Ms Funewe Burwana a happy day on her Birthday next Wednesday.

Yours sincerely,
