Dear  Parents

After a rather frantic week of rain, wind, snow and fires, we have managed to emerge unscathed (despite a fallen tree or two). Our hearts are so sad for those families who have lost possessions or loved ones in these dramatic events.

Whilst we do understand that there are sometimes traffic issues, there are boys who are arriving late for school on a regular basis. Please ensure that you get your son to school in time for him to settle in before the day begins. Thank you to those parents who have heeded our respectful request to allow boys to come in to the school and unpack independently. This is an essential life lesson and school is the place to learn this lesson. Your support is much appreciated.

Boys please need to have a navy blue school jersey (with the Bishops badge on it) as well as a Khaki (Grade 1 and 2) or Navy (Grade N and R) wide brimmed hat at school every day. These are specifically designed to surround the head and protect the face, ears and the back of the neck. Peak caps do not give sufficient coverage to young skin and therefore are only really recommended for when boys are older. Please also note that rain jackets, as I have mentioned previously, may only be worn to school and back. They may not be worn in the classrooms.

We will be holding our family Chapel service on Friday 23 June at 8.30am in the Memorial Chapel. All Pre-prep boys will be attending and their families are welcome to join us.

There will be no further Saturday Tag rugby fixtures this term.

Well done to the brave boys who participated in the challenging Wynberg Park trail run last Friday. There were some great results - you all coped admirably along such a tough route! Today is going to be fast and flat - but very muddy and cold, so please bring your tracksuit to change into after the race.

Last day of afternoon sport.

Grade 1 and 2 Tag internal tournament taking place during usual tag rugby time.

Family chapel service @ 8.30am

We are well underway with rehearsals and today did some costume fitting. Please keep updated with the necessary dates and information via our website.

We will be rehearsing seriously in the first few days of Term 3 so please ensure that the boys return to school and avoid extended holidays as this will seriously impact our rehearsal timetable and leaves those boys not here, quite uncertain of what they need to do. We have sent out numerous requests and given out these dates since February so we trust to see all boys at school from the first day of the new term.

Next weekend is a long weekend. School is closed on 16 June and we return on Monday 19 June. Afternoon activities will continue as usual on Thursday 15th.

Please would you remind the boys to return their library books and bring their library bags to school? They get so sad when they are unable to take out new books.

Please be reminded, during this chilly weather, to continue knitting squares! They are trickling in but not very fast. I encourage you all to become part of this important outreach. Our recipients are so appreciative of these warm blankets.

Aftercare will be open until 5pm from Monday to Thursday and until 4pm on a Friday. Please contact crheeder@bishops.org.za for any further queries.

As mentioned before, please make sure that you have registered and are able to sign in to myBishopsLife Pre Prep in order to retrieve your end of term reports. Should you have any problems regarding myBishopsLife kindly email portal@bishops.org.za

If your son is sick, an email to the teacher is much appreciated. In this way, she can communicate if there is work that should be collected to complete.

Wishing you all a peaceful, happy and warm weekend.

Yours sincerely,

Head of Pre-Prep
