Dear  Parents

We have come to the end of a very long and busy term.  We have braved the wind, the rain, the icy cold and all the flu bugs. Thank you to all parents for their continued support this term.  We are now half way through the year and our wish is that you come back refreshed and ready for a busy second half.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the three lovely teachers who have stepped into some important roles at Bishops in the last while; Mrs Terry Rudston who was in for Mrs Heather Fraser; Mrs Lindy Burns who was in for Mrs Ann van Breda and Mrs Tracey Micklethwaite who was in for Mrs Carmen van Zyl. Mrs Mary Anne Syfret will be here for the remainder of the year in Grade R and the other two teachers will be back for the start of Term 3.

There will be three Saturday tag rugby mornings, 2, 9 and 16 September from 8am-9am

All afternoon activities commence on Monday 31 September. Please be reminded that the only change to the sport timetable is for Chess in Grade R.  Term three allows for the boys in Mrs Syfret's class to participate on a Wednesday (beginners) and a Friday (those that can already play). Please fill your names in on the lists that will be outside Mrs Syfrets room in the first week of the new term. The rest of the afternoon activities continue as usual.

There is only one cross-country event next term on 28 July at Sun Valley.

Morning gross motor and soccer skills will commence from the first week of the term.

Tuesday, 25 July

School Re-opens for all grades.

Monday 31 September

Afternoon activities commence

I would like to appeal to all parents, once again, to please make sure they keep the rehearsal dates open on the relevant Saturdays next term It is equally as important to be back at school on the first day of the term, as rehearsals will start immediately after we are back at school. The dates and all other information is available on the website for easy reference. Thank you so much to all the parents who have been extremely willing to assist. We appreciate your help very much.

I would like to encourage boys to continue to work on Mathletics and Reading Eggs during the holidays. This will help them revise concepts taught in class.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank one of our interns, Ms Chelsea Lassen for all her hard work during her time with us at Bishops. Chelsea has spent time with all our grades at the Pre-prep and is ready for some new challeges in her life.  We wish her well in all her new endeavours.  We welcome numerous student teachers next term for their practical teaching experiences.  I am sure you will get to know their faces when you see them in around the school.

Reports will be available from 12 o clock today, on My Bishops Life.

Aftercare will be open until 2pm today.  For further information, please contact crheeder@bishops.org.za  Aftercare will run from the first day of the new term.

Please can we remind parents to be vigalint about locking their vehicles (and checking  that it has in fact locked) when dropping off and picking up boys. Please also make sure valuable items are not visable. Although we are putting in as many measures as we can, opportunists are still taking advantage of the parking areas.

A gentle reminder that boys are always to wear khaki uniforms on the first and last day of each term.

Wishing you the most wonderful holiday with your families.

Yours sincerely,

Head of Pre-Prep
