Dear Parents

Robin Sharma states that: This world of ours is full of great thinkers who never realized their greatness.  Our wish is that we can encourage these thinkers, to think differently and to be able to develop their greatness on their journey at Bishops.

Grade one boys had a fantastic trading day on Thursday.  What fun and excitement amongst the stall holders and despite a few tears because some items were sold out, they really had a wonderful morning.  Thank you to all the parents for their support with this activity.

This morning we had a visit from some of the Prep school staff.  We hope that this provided a little more insight for those families moving over to the Prep in 2018.  If you have any further queries, please feel free to come and chat to me or to contact the specific teachers at the Prep, as they suggested.

We are exceptionally proud of the boys who participated in the athletics meeting at Rhenish on Thursday and the boys who swam in the gala at Bishops as well.  They have all participated with pride and enthusiasm and we congratulate them on their outstanding achievements.  This will be the last athletics event that the Grade 2 boys will participate in while at the Pre-Prep, and we look forward to following their success as they move on to the Prep school.  I am sure that there is much talent amongst the new group of Grade 1 boys coming up next year.  We look forward to a new season in Term 1, 2018.   The last day of afternoon sport this term is Friday 24 November.

Last day of afternoon extra murals.

There have been some parents enquiring about the Grade 2 Father and Sons campout.   It will take place on Friday night, 17 November on The Oaks fields.  You have an opportunity to get your camping gear together and if you cannot make it, please arrange for your son to camp with a friend.  Only gents and boys allowed, no siblings either.  Toilet and braai facilities are available, the rest is up to you.  Please be advised that no technology for the boys (ipads/phones/games) are permitted.  Grade 2 parents will get further information in due course.

On the calendar you will notice that there are various Meet and Greet afternoons for Grade N and R boys.  Please note that this is for new boys for 2018 so if you have not recieved a special invitation, this does not involve you at all.  To avoid confusion, we have indicated on the calendar, that this is by invitation only.

Please note that an application of fertilizer, fungicide and pesticides will be applied to all Turfgrass/Lawns during the school holidays.  Once again please take safety precautions with regards to children and pets by allowing the application ample time to be absorbed into the leaf.

Thank you so much to all those parents who have offered help in the library.  We started today at 11am.  If you can join this work party, please feel free to do so on a Tuesday morning from 8 - 10 and a Friday from 11 - 1pm.  Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

The Bishops Trust

We are extremely grateful to the Bishops community for their support to the 175 Campaign.

We have had wonderful feedback about the launch of the Hamilton Mvelase Bursary Fund in September, and since then, we have received R96,270 towards this worthy programme.

In order to make giving easier, we can now receive payments through Snapscan and PayFast.

Payfast is a secure payment gateway which offers several convenient payment methods, including a ‘regular giving’ option for those who would prefer to donate small monthly contributions.

Additional payment methods now include: Credit Card, Instant Eft, MasterPass and Bitcoin.

(Contributions through these payment gateways are still eligible to receive Section 18A receipts.)

Details of the contributions we have received thus far (R40,555,039) towards the 175 Campaign Programmes are represented in the graph below.  Thank you so much to everyone who have contributed so generously.

If you are able to assist the campaign in any way or should you have any queries, please see our webpage or contact Nikki at the Trust office.

Boys may start bringing in items being collected for the food hampers, as per our email this week.  Tasneem Arnold will be facilitating this collection and any contributions you would like to send would be most appreciated.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Yours sincerely,
