Dear  Parents

Despite it being a short one, this week has been incredibly busy.  Many staff have been away on conferences and have returned inspired and invigorated. This is our last plea for our Easter Egg collection. Please send your donations in as they will be distributed next week. I will put more details of this in the end of term newsletter.

The highlight of the next week surely has to be our fun sports day, which is coming up on Wednesday 29th.  This is a wonderful way to end off the term, a relaxing and interactive way to get to know other parents while having fun with your children. We will send a programme of events out next week.  In the meantime, you can pack your picnic baskets and blankets and be ready for a lovely evening.  Do bear in mind that our PA will be running a tuckshop selling delicious Spur Burgers (beef, chicken, vegetarian, Halaal) and coldrinks.  Sweets, chips, popcorn and donuts will also be available.

All boys need to be here for the start of the races at 4pm.  If this is going to be a problem, rather sign boys into aftercare or let them have a playdate to ensure they are here on time.  All boys to dress in their whites.  Shoes are not necessary to run in but together with a tracksuit to put on when it gets cooler, would be a good idea.

Please diarise 25 April for the Tag Rugby meeting for all dads who have indicated their willingness to coach.  You would have already received information about this.  Tag will be in full swing from next term.  The boys are excited and we look forward to a fantastic season.  Tag is an opportunity for boys to play with their peers regardless of their age group.  Boys are divided into class teams and this gives them a sense of identity and teaches them to work as a team.  Tag shirts (in the colour assigned to you) are available at the school shop.  Boys need to wear their kit every Friday to be allowed to participate in the practices.

Many parents have been asking about our Winter sport programme.   To view the programme please click here http://preprep.bishops.org.za/ To sign up for various options, you will receive an online sign up form next week to complete.  In the meantime, take time to peruse the timetable and finalise your decisions.  Please keep a record of what you have chosen, as we get many requests asking us to remind parents of what has been selected. If you have any clashes, please let us know and we will try and sort something out.   Extra lessons take preference over afternoon activities.  Kindly note that the Gr N Extra Mural Timetable remains unchanged throughout the year.

Please ensure that you have a full tracksuit available for your son.  Tops and pants are to be worn together, especially during the change of season where it can be cold in the mornings and warmer later in the day.

This is slowly starting to take shape.  Thanks to all those boys who auditioned for various parts, they were all outstanding.   Final decisions will be announced soon but there are so many wonderful roles that each boy is ensured of an exciting adventure into the world of theatre during this time.

Today the Grade 2 boys had a wonderful opportunity to experience a lesson of "Loving Maths".  This will be offered privately from next term on a Tuesday morning from 7.15 - 7.45 in our new library.  This is only open to Grade 2 boys at this stage.  If you are interested, please come along on Tuesday 25 April at 7.15 and meet the Loving Maths instructor in the library to sign up.  Costs are R400 per term, first lesson is free and you can register on your first visit.

The Term Calender will be updated next week.

There is no afternoon sport next week.  Aftercare will be open during the afternoon and on Thursday 30th when school closes @ 09:30 aftercare will remain open until 14:00.  For any further inquiries, please contact Mrs Catherine Rheeder at crheeder@bishops.org.za

There are a few outings coming up next week.  These days take a lot of planning and organisation from the teacher and class reps.   Please be familiar with the expectations on these days.  All boys are required to come to school as usual.  Teachers will brief them about the day and they will proceed with their various lifts.  Seatbelts are of the utmost importance and need to be worn at all times.  Please do not give the boys anything to eat or drink that they have not packed in their own lunch boxes.  Parents are asked please not to stop at any shop on the way and also not to purchase items at the venue for any boys that they are lifting.  Lunch should be packed in clearly marked, reusable Bishops cooler bags as far as possible.  All boys are required to return to school until the end of the school day including those whose parents were lifting. Thank you for your understanding of these guidelines.

From the Principal's Newsletter:

"On Wednesday evening the launch of the Epic video, filmed last year, was held in the Memorial Theatre.  The evening was also an opportunity to launch a special initiative by Michael Beckurts who produced some very special paintings on the Epic.  These paintings have been made into cards and are on sale in the school shop.  All proceeds will be going to the Elizabethfontein Primary School, a fantastic gesture from Michael.  Slides of the cards and information is attached for your interest."

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.  Remember to disconnect from your devices and connect with your children.

Yours sincerely,
