Dear  Parents

Well, winter has certainly made an appearance this week and this is a clear indication that it is time to formally change to winter uniform. Please, from Monday can ALL boys wear winter uniform? For those of you who have school shoes/sandals that are too small, we have some rural schools that would gladly accept your donations. Please send them along to school.

Some of the Grade R boys enjoyed an outing to the Fire Station this week and the first of the Grade 2 classes went to visit the Oranjezicht City Farm. Boys enjoy outings so much and the learning that takes place through experiences such as this, is immense. Please remember that outings with your class and outings with just your family have a different dynamic and different things are learnt in each situation.

We will see all excited Grade 1 and 2 boys and those enthusiastic dads tomorrow morning @ 8a.m. for our first Saturday tag rugby session. Please use the top pedestrian gate near our new hall or you may park across the field on the Avenue. Please make sure that your son does not go home with a tag belt on.

All sport is up and running for this term. Please make sure you pick boys up promptly after an activity or they will need to go to aftercare. No boys are to be left unattended before, between or after activities - this includes boys going to music or any support in the afternoons.

Our school is exploring the theme Respect. As a school we would like to call ourselves, the School of Respect. This is where we teach it, practise it, talk about it, listen to stories about it and hopefully make it one of our life motto's. We have broken it down into:

R = recognise that everyone is different

E = empathy to listen and connect

S = Self-monitor, think first

P = personal space

E = Earn trust through your actions

C = Cheer on others and their success

T = treat everyone as an equal

Please talk to your boys about this, make it part of your dinner time conversation and help us to grow young gentlemen who will develop skills to become respectful citizens.

Special Request

Ben Spaun (Gr2lf) is missing a blue and white striped "Abercrombie and Fitch" sweater. The sweater was left in a packet in his locker during the week of 24 April. Unfortunately, Ben was not at school to collect it and on returning to school it was no longer in his locker. Should anyone have seen the sweater kindly contact Nicky in the office on 021 659 1037 or email:  nvanzyl@bishops.org.za

Wishing you all a restful and wonderful weekend - spend some special and focussed time with your boys. Wishing all mums, or those who take on any mummy role, a blessed Mothers' Day on Sunday.

Yours sincerely,
