Dear  Parents

This week has been one of the coldest we have had in a long while.  It is always a challenge to predict the weather and outside games and sport is inevitably affected by the rain.  We really try our best to make a sensible decision around wet weather and I have decided to outline our policy to make it easier to understand.

On rainy days, we wait until 12 o'clock before making a decision about afternoon sport.  Nicky therefore cannot give any parents information about afternoon sport until then.  At 12 o'clock, an sms will be sent out informing parents of the plan for the afternoon. Sport is never cancelled as often the rain clears within a few minutes and this allows us to move outside and continue with outside activities.  All boys will be supervised for the normal duration of the sporting activity in one of the classrooms. Grade 2 hockey boys will be given a theory lesson in the classroom by the hockey coaches. We cannot control the weather, as much as we would like to so please support us in our efforts to have the least possible disruption to any afternoon plans.

Thank you to those parents who attended Chapel this morning with the Grade 1 and 2 boys.  It was lovely to see so many who braved the cold to share such a special occasion with us.

One group of Judo boys had their very first match against Forres on Thursday afternoon. The score was Bishops 7 and Forres 8.  Well done to both teams as this was their first encounter against another school. We look forward to many more exciting challenges in future.

We also congratulate Sebastian Poole who participated in a gymnastics competition last weekend and won a silver award.  We are super proud of you, Sebastian.

On Friday 19 June, we will be having a little internal tag rugby tournament here at Bishops Pre-prep. Games begin at 12.30 and run until approximately 2pm.  We look forward to many spectators and lots of fun for everyone.

A big thank you to all the Parents who made the long trip to Sun Valley AND in the pouring rain to participate in the Cross Country run! There was not a huge turnout from Bishops but the boys did their best and we had some great achievements. Lots of smiling from the boys who mostly bettered their previous placement! Our top 5 runners in each age group were:

U7  Reve Tuscher; Michael Mafunda; Matthew Ramsay; Liam Hacking; Alexander Beach

U8  Connor Day; Jean de Villiers; Ryan Webb; Gabriel Lind; Ben Watt

A thought for the week ahead:  Robin Sharma wrote, "What the ordinary person sees as failure, the master sees as part of the process of refining your craft." We see this every day in the boys in our care...the mistakes and bad choices, and we are working hard to help them refine their craft, to create masters of the future.
