Dear  Parents

This term is soon coming to an end and yet these last few weeks are jam packed full of things that need to be done.  Play rehearsals are one of the most important happenings at this time. Many parents requesting permission to leave school earlier than closing day is an ongoing challenge for the directors of the play and one that causes much stress in the children as they are unsure of what to do on their return.  Please do not keep the children from attending school these last few days, if at all possible.

We would like to congratulate Akshay Thakersee who recieved Western Province (Regional) Schools Colours for Chess.  Akshay will also be competing in the Commonwealth Games these holidays and we wish him all the very best from all the boys, teachers and parentsl at Bishops.  We are confident that he will be very sucessful in the games he plays.

Our knitting drive is going so well and we are hugely excited by the blankets that are appearing!  Please keep knitting those squares.  If you run out of wool over the weekend, most Checkers stores have balls of double knit available for purchase.  Some classes have knitted close to 1000 squares so please keep going!

We are hoping to post some suggestions for healthy lunchbox treats.  Please watch our upcoming newsletters for hints and tips.

It has been wonderful having so many mums in and around the school helping with arranging costumes for the play.  Thank you for taking the time to help.  Also to the class reps for the outstanding work they do behind the scenes.  Your efforts do not go unrecognised.

Just some wise words with which to end off:  Childhood is not a race to see how quickly a child can read, write and count. Childhood is a small window of time to learn and develop at the pace which is right for each individual child.  Thank you for supporting your children in a way that honours their achievements, recognises their differences, allows them to learn from their mistakes and loves them unconditionally. Have a wonderful long weekend.

Yours sincerely,
