Dear  Parents

Thank you to all those parents who attended the class meetings this week.  It has been wonderful to get to chat to you all again.  What a wonderful opportunity for us to show off our beautiful new hall and our new facilities.  If you were not able to attend, please contact your class teachers to access any information you may have missed.

Our Grade 1 and 2 boys have had their first visit to our beautiful new library.  Please ensure that books are kept in good order at home and sent back on the relative library days.  Library bags are available at the school shop and every boy is expected to keep their library book in their library bag.

We have also had our first art lesson and are extremely excited about our new venue.  We look forward to posting some of our artwork around the school.

All extra murals have commenced.  Chess is held in the Art room on a Monday but on other days in various classes.  Art club is in the Art room and Judo is in the new library.  Claystation is also in the new Art room.

Tues, 24 Jan

Wed, 25 Jan

Class Reps Breakfast/Meeting - Rossall Pavillion, Prep School: 07:45

Fri, 17 Mar

The Bishops Prep Country Fair, Prep School, Fir Road, Rondebosch - 16:00 - 22:00

The Grade R boys are loving their new play area. Their busy days are filled with songs and activities, discussions and investigation, along with the acquisition of exciting knowledge.  This week they were exposed to the "s" sound of Sammy Snake.  The boys have settled so well and it is always encouraging to pop into their classrooms and sense the excitement of these little boys.

These busy little beings are absolutely loving their new school.  The energy and enthusiasm in this area of the school is infectious.   Please can we ask that you collect empty cereal/biscuit or any other boxes for box construction, styrofoam or plastic fruit holders/veg holders, empty yoghurt cups (big and small with lids if they have them) ice cream containers (with lids if possible) as well.  They can be dropped off in the mornings or after school with your teacher assistant.  We are also looking for some old braai tongs and other camping things that we can use for outside fantasy play.  Any old blankets would also be welcome.  Our house corner is in need of empty baby product bottles, some old patty pans or a pot/pan, old receiving blankets and believe it or not, a plastic baby bath, dolls pram and a baby changing mat!  Old hats and gloves, bags are also very welcome.  If anyone has anything they are willing to contribute, please chat to the class teachers.

All reports are posted online via MyBishopsLife.  Please take time to register on this portal as you will need to access school reports and various other information when necessary. Kindly note that you need to do this via the Pre-Prep website.

Please familiarise yourself with our times.  There is information on our website about our aftercare, as well as a form you can download to sign boys up for aftercare.  For any further information please contact crheeder@bishops.org.za

If you filled in an online sign up for sport, please keep a record of what you have signed up for.  We use these forms to formulate our registers and often we need to go and look for boys who are not sure what they have been signed up for.  A quick reminder from you to your son in the mornings is possibly a good idea, so that they are aware of where they need to go that afternoon.

Dear members of the Bishops community

Since re-launching the MySchool Card initiative the response has been very positive, and many members of the Bishops community have, either applied for a new card, or have started using their old ones again.

Our thanks to those who have taken up the challenge of ‘Every Swipe Counts’!

As this is a painless way to fundraise, we again appeal to you to please apply for your MySchool card and use it as much as possible at any Woolworths or partner store.  Regular feedback on the progress of this initiative will be made available.

The funds raised from this project will be used to upgrade the present libraries, which are used by all the Bishops boys from Pre Prep to College. Our aim is to change these facilities into 21st Century Resource Centres which will equip our boys with the skills needed for the future!  The Molteno Library at College was upgraded and re-opened in 2014 and is a testament to this vision.  In 2017 the focus will be on the Pre Prep and Prep Library.

So all that is left for you to do is apply for your card and use it!

Please find the MySchool Application Form attached.  Completed forms may be sent to marketing@bishops.org.za    alternatively you may call 0860 100 445 or visit  www.myschool.co.za

Kind regards

Lost Property: Matthew and Joshua Allen (Gr R) have both misplaced their water bottles at Aftercare.  Kindly check whether your son may have inadvertently brought any of these home.

Wishing you all a blessed, restful weekend.

Yours sincerely,
