19 May 2017

Dear  Parents

As we head into week 6 of this new term, we have lots to which we can look forward! Mrs van Zyl (Grade R) will be going on maternity leave at the end of the term and we are delighted to have Mrs Mary Ann Syfret back to take over while she is away. Mrs Syfret is presently at Barkly House and will join us from next term.

A reminder to all parents that the Bishops Trust will be presenting the 175 Campaign at the Woodlands Pavilion on Tuesday, 23 May 2017, at 6.30 / 7PM. ODU President, Raymond Ackerman, will be the Guest Speaker. If you would like a glimpse of Bishops’ future plans, we urge you to attend. If you have not yet responded and would still like to attend, please click here or email nmatthews@bishops.org.za.

Tomorrow morning @ 8am we will once again meet for a session of Tag rugby. All grade one and two boys are welcome to join us in their correct tag kit for some games. Stuart from Tag Rugby will be there to facilitate. Grade one and two boys all play together on Saturdays.

We will continue to come to school dressed in whatever sport kit is required on a particular day, until further notice. A reminder that full Winter uniform should be worn on other days.

22 May

Gr 2 Mrs Rudston visit Oranjezicht Farm

25 May

Ascension Day Prep and Pre-Prep Chapel service in the Memorial Chapel @ 11:00.  Parents are welcome to join.

If any parents have any empty ice-cream containers, please bring them to school to be used for storage of make-up for our play.

On Thursday 25 May, our Grade 1 and 2 boys will join the Prep Ascension Day Chapel Service @ 11am in the Memorial Chapel. This is not taking the place of our termly Family Chapel Service, but parents who would like to attend are very welcome.  Please note that because this is a combined service, there is limited seating space so if you are planning to join, it would be sensible to arrive early.

Kindly contact Catherine Rheeder on crheeder@bishops.org.za for any aftercare queries/requests. The aftercare telephone number is 021 659 1003 from 12:30 daily.

Please check that you are able to log into MyBishopsLife. Academic Reports at the end of this term will be published via this portal.  If you have any problems, please email portal@bishops.org.za for help.

There is still a lot of lost property lying around in the afternoons. Please ensure that new uniform items are clearly marked and that old names have been removed if you have purchased from the second hand shop. Sports equipment in particular needs to be clearly marked in order for it to be returned to its owner.

Please see some information below on a run and walk being held by "thinktwice":  www.thinktwice.org.za/  in support of National Child Protection Week.

National Child Protection Week is commemorated annually in South Africa to raise awareness of children’s rights to protection (28 May- 3 June 2017).

Think Twice will be hosting a run and walk around the Rondebosch Common in support of Child Protection week on the 3rd of June 2017 from 8am to 10 am.

The event is open to the public and as a supporter we encourage you to wear a touch of green (green T-shirt or green sneakers or Green cap, or green scarf- totally up to you).

Meet on the Rondebosch Common Opposite Scripture Union, 14 Park Road.

We will be handing out Green Ribbons and information on child protection.

Parents please feel free to bring along your children to meet Jerry Giraffe who will be teaching them songs and dances as we walk around the Common.  Come and join us in celebrating the value of children in our lives as well as our responsibilities to protect them.

Wishing you a wonderfully relaxing weekend along with some special family time.

Yours sincerely,
